Rafael Eubra Jr. Calls for Change at National Protest Rally

Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines — During the Hakbang ng MAISUG Peace Rally held on July 27, 2024, in Cagayan de Oro City, Rafael B. Eubra Jr., a prominent figure from the professional sector, delivered a powerful and impassioned speech expressing his concerns about the current administration and calling for significant reforms.

Eubra, addressing a diverse crowd, began by affirming the unity of the Filipino people regardless of regional differences. He remarked, “I’m not from CDO, I’m not from Visayas, I’m Tagalog, but even if I’m from Bicolano, Tagalog, Visayas, or Mindanao, we are all united because we are all MAISUG!” This sentiment of solidarity set the tone for his critical analysis of the current political landscape.

In his speech, Eubra drew a comparison between the current and previous administrations, using the allegory of the Grasshopper and the Ants. He described the previous administration as proactive and solution-oriented, contrasting it with the current administration’s perceived shortcomings. He illustrated his point by referencing recent flooding issues, stating, “The previous administration had pre-emptive solutions to problems before they occurred. The current administration, however, seems to lack effective responses to ongoing crises.”

Eubra also voiced his disappointment with the administration’s handling of national disasters and its failure to deliver on promises. He questioned the effectiveness of recent government initiatives and expressed frustration over what he described as “empty promises” from leaders who, in his view, have failed to address pressing issues like flooding and economic hardship.

His critique extended to the criticisms faced by Vice President Sara Duterte, whom he defended by emphasizing her commitment to aiding those in need despite criticisms of her absence from recent domestic crises. Eubra praised her leadership style, stating, “The difference will always be made by people who know the difference. Duterte has raised the bar of leadership with true actions and results.”

Eubra’s remarks resonated strongly with the attendees of the peace rally, who gathered to voice their concerns about the administration’s policies and the state of the nation. His speech highlighted a collective desire for accountability, transparency, and effective public service. Eubra urged Filipinos to unite, speak up, and demand better governance for the country’s future.

The rally, part of the National Day of Protest organized by Hakbang ng MAISUG, saw participants from various regions of the Philippines and abroad, all advocating for peace, democratic rights, and an end to corruption. Eubra’s compelling address added a significant voice to the ongoing discourse about national reform and governance.
